What Are PLC And DCS?
PLC Programmable Logic Controller: PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and Programmable Logic Controller (Programmable Logic Controller) in Chinese, is defined as an electronic system for digital operations, designed for use in industrial environments. It USES a class of programmable memory for its internal storage programs, performs user-oriented instructions such as logical operations, sequential control, timing, counting, and arithmetic operations, and controls various types of machinery or production processes through digital or analog input/output.

DCS DISTRIBUTED CONTROL SYSTEM: DCS is called DISTRIBUTED CONTROL SYSTEM in English and DISTRIBUTED CONTROL SYSTEM in Chinese. DCS can be interpreted as an automated high-tech product widely used in the industry with more analog loop control, which tries to disperse the risk caused by control and centralize the management and display functions.

The difference between PLC vs DCS – DCS is a complete control system, while PLC is one control system component. In the past, the difference between the systems was significant. However, today’s PLC systems combined with a SCADA system and a few more tools are almost equivalent to a homogeneous DCS system.

In a nutshell, a PLC or programmable logic controller is a ruggedized computer used for automating processes. A DCS or distributed control system is similar to a PLC in that it has rugged computer controllers however the DCS contains multiple autonomous controllers that are distributed throughout a system, also used for automating processes.
